One wonders just how much disaffection and disillusionment pervades the Democratic party. That Overton window has shifted to the extent that the current form of the Democratic party would be unrecognizable to, say, John F. Kennedy. Indeed, the values and more that many characterize as what is now called a classical liberal almost exactly mirror what we now know as the libertarian.
Those are some stark contrasts with the only difference between them being the passage and treatment of time, as well the ever-increasing amounts of, what has now become boring to say, division. This sense of disillusionment has even effected elected Democrats.
It is now being reported that:
Two life-long Democrats are now running for re-election as Republicans as the border crisis worsens under President Joe Biden.
In a report from The Center Square’s Bethany Blankley, Terrell County Judge Dale Carruthers and Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara — two females in Texas border communities — said they are sick and tired of Biden’s open border policies destroying their small communities.
“The single reason they switched parties, they say, is because the Biden administration’s policies led to more than 2 million people coming through the southern border from over 150 countries.
The costs of crime stemming from an open border – increased trafficking and smuggling of people, weapons, and guns – to their communities has prompted them to say, “enough is enough” and do something about it,” Blankley wrote.
It was later on, at a campaign event, that Carruthers said, “I come from a Hispanic heritage, which was prominently Democrat. The chaos at the border and everything that’s been going on make me realize that I needed to switch parties.
I am very happy to be a Republican and to represent this great state of Texas as a judge.”
“I’ve been a Democrat since 1992,” Guevara said. “I’ve always ran as a Democrat and this is my first year to run as a Republican. I’m very grateful for Gov. Abbott for all he has done for Texas and continues to do for Texas, especially with our border crisis.”
This disillusion on the left is, it goes without saying, is quite invigorating to Republicans. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In fact, it is further reported that:
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced in April that Republicans had amassed a 120,000 voter edge over Democrats in the state.
“When I got elected governor, there were almost 300,000 more registered Democrats in the state of Florida than Republicans.
Today, there are over 120,000 more registered Republicans, and we never had more Republicans in the history of the state until I became governor,” DeSantis said while signing election integrity legislation.
So, there does seem to be an en masse exodus pervading the Democrats. Hopefully, this might lead to some kind of correction on the left where they can finally identify and excise the fanatics and the lunatics that we typically refer to as leftists.
One major problem here is the boot-licking and pandering that the “moderate” left, or at least its politicians do and they do this to the extent that there is no way to distinguish between the moderates and the fanatics on the left. That will be for them to sort out. In the meantime, the Republicans can enjoy the fruit of their insanity.
